5 NEW MATTERIALS
- 1. matterial: Bio-inspired plastic
Properties:
-Bio-inspired plastics are based on biological structures or processes.
-Most of the bioplastics are made from cellulose, which is a plant-based polysaccharide material.
-Is made from insect cuticles and the strength of shrimp shells and spider silk helps in the formation of such plastic.
Aplications:
-A part from that Bio-inspired plastics may be used for short-term electronics equipment.
-Also, it can be used to make trash bags, packaging, and diapers.
-Bio-inspired plastic such as Shrilk may be useful for creating implantable foams, films and scaffolds for surgical closure, wound healing, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine applications.
2. matterial: electronic ink (E Ink)
Properties:
-E-ink technology appeared in a few early cell phones and spread to applications that included traffic signage, electronic shelf signage, and wearables.
3. matterial: the polymer
-By altering the number and types of molecular linkers that connect individual strands, researchers were able to adjust the material's stability and set the point when the shape change is triggered.
Aplications:
4. matterial: Aluminum Bubble Wrap
Properties:
-The scientists take a thin sheet of aluminum, then use a studded roller to form small indents in the sheet.
Aplications:
-It could soon be used in everything from shipping containers for fragile goods to bike helmets.
-Nowadays, it is used to pack boxes.
5. matterial: Titanium foam
-By saturating a humble polyurethane foam with a solution of titanium powder and binding agents, it's possible to force the metal to cling to the shape of the simple foam and then vaporise the underlying structure away.
-The material is just perfect for replacing bone: it has incredibly similar mechanical properties and, because it's porous, new bone can grow and around its structure.
Aplications:
-It can be used in structural applications for load bearing features due to the compression strength.is --It also very useful for impact-absorbing structures in vehicles.
-It is also ideal for sound absorption and vibrations.
-And it is currently undergoing tests as a possibility to be used as bones in the human body.
